The “Laminaire” collection brings together concerts resulting from collective work sessions and residencies carried out by Onceim. In physical terms, a laminar flow is characterized by its fluidity, and is defined as a sliding of elements, without any turbulence. Through improvisation, the musicians form an ensemble of sound materials and textures that dialogue, superimpose and harmonize in a polyphonic composition.
Through regular work sessions, the orchestra faces a complex process of musical elaboration (especially when performed in large numbers) and the aesthetic issues it raises. It's a collective, analytical process that seeks to strike a balance between the richness of individual skill and the shared artistic object. Numerous strategies (listening, balance, placement, etc.) have been developed and explored, and over the years the orchestra has developed an identifiable group sound.
