Occam Ocean is an exceptional project, the fruit of a two-year collaboration between Eliane Radigue, an emblematic and historic figure in French contemporary creation, and the musicians of Onceim.
Occam is the generic title of a cycle of instrumental pieces initiated by Eliane Radigue in 2011, a cycle composing a work she says is “by nature unfinished because it cannot be finished”. Occam Ocean now initiates a new series of pieces dedicated for the first time to a large ensemble, Onceim.
The choice and exclusive use of continuous sounds, known as drones, place Eliane Radigue's aesthetic at the crossroads of minimalist, electronic and spectral currents. The spiritual dimension of her pieces gives her music a meditative character.
“Occam Ocean 2” (2015) performed by Onceim, directed by Frédéric Blondy, with Pierre Cussac, accordion, Jean Dousteyssier, Jean-Brice Godet, Joris Rühl, Julien Pontvianne, Xavier Charles, clarinet, Benjamin Duboc, Fred Marty, Sébastien Beliah, double bass, Jean Daufresne, Vianney Desplantes, euphonium, Giani Caserotto, Jean-Sébastien Mariage, Richard Comte, guitar, Akino Kamiya, Alvise Sinivia, Antonin Gerbal, percussion, Benjamin Dousteyssier, Bertrand Denzler, Carmen Lefrançois, Pierre-Antoine Badaroux, Stéphane Rives, Yoann Durant, saxophones, Alexis Persigan, trombone, Louis Laurain, trumpet, Robin Hayward, tuba, Charlotte Hug, Julia Robert, viola, Patricia Bosshard, violin, Anaïs Moreau, Félicie Bazelaire, cello.
